~S~All, After discussing Wingman Tactics with MinuteMan a few days ago, he sent me this link which I would like to pass along; mywingman.net/wingman.htmIt is very informative and comes highly recommended. It even has diagrams. One in particular that caught my eye, pointed out a mistake that I have been making. When leading an enemy to my wingman, I have been heading straight, for a head on pass. MISTAKE!! Please notice the proper procedure. It would seem to me that if we were to join a Squadron Mate on TeamSpeak and then go to the WGC, the opportunity would quickly present itself to practice and have fun at the same time.

~S~ smilo,
I've looked over that website about wingman tactics. You know that it is one of my obsessions.
Since I was taught that a wingman sticks like glue to his leader, ...except when going into 'defensive' flying mode by being bounced by a bandit on six,...while pursuing a bandit in gunsights,....I can only agree with the 'Crossover Attack'. I call it the 180 attack, as you know from reading that old training plan I sent you. [that was one long sentence wasn't it?]
That is the only time 'seperation' is allowed. Otherwise stay together.
Yup, the wingman will have to get used to 'flicker vertigo' flicking his hatswitch back and forth continuously; but that's his job....to keep an eye on his leader and on the lookout for bandits closing in.
How you guys tried to achieve that during the Canyon Race is beyond me and my skills. I don't think I could done it in confined quarters.
But it is a good site and has a lot of good advice in it.
Thanks.
and take care,
Ed ps - dare I try a preview look and have to go thru the security thing again? Heck,...here goes. dang it nailed me again.

Dang, I wish I could edit my previous post.
Nevertheless, here's a quote from that site.
I learned the 'drag and bag' thing with the JG54. In their definition, it required 'seperation' and flying solo to drag/lure a bandit to your leader. I didn't like it.
Ok, I'm getting distracted and nervous about a spell check and preview. Oh the heck with those things. I'll just hit the post button.
Do I have to join to avoid the security check, and do you have a senior citizens position that I can sign up for. It has to be all talk and no flying......sadly.
~S~
Take care,
Ed got lots more to say but feel like a bandit is breathing down my neck right now [no not your AAC_Bandit....lol].
