~S~All !
I found myself flying a B17 to somewhere in Europe with 10 bombs onboard and the only thing I knew was when I pressed a button the bombs would leave the plane and later hit the ground ........
Is it possible to get a step by step info how to include a target in the mission: How to aim etc?
Low level bombing is OK, just dive, drop and try to fly the remains... High level: I know nothing..

~S~Scandfox, rest assured, you are not alone. I have heard the same thing from several of our pilots. IMO, first and foremost, one must have a panel with autopilot and other gauges to help maintain altitude and heading to the target. next, there are several gauges that can be used to site the target, but the best one I have seen so far was given to me a few weeks ago by Rebel. basically, you toggle a switch and your view is automatically set with your gunsight looking down. when it crosses over the target, you release your bombs. this is over simplified, but the principle is the same...and practice, practice, practice. Hubba and I have both been working on bomb panels and several of the pilots already have one that they like. I would not presume that mine is the best, it just works for me. I have found that people use some parts and discard others, which is fine by me. if you will recall, a few weeks ago, I posted a poll, asking what screen resolution people used. I have come to find out that the panel I have been working on looks fine on my 1360x768 monitor, but is all out of wack on a standard 1024x768. basically, the circles are ovals and the gauges on the pop up windows are out of place. in other words, if I want to offer my panel, I have to completely redo it for the different resolution. anyway, I am wondering if there is any interest spending a few hours working on bomb run basics. first we would help getting a panel and gauges set up and then we would work on autopilot fundamentals, then target acquisition and alignment. MrGit1 and I did this last Monday. I think it was very productive and, for me, a lot of fun.

~S~ Sir !
Many thanks for Your help yesterday with the set-up of the panel for the Lancaster
Very nice for a Fighter-Jock like me to get a picture of the life in the Allies World of Bombing but I see one more back-draw for the Axis:
With Autopilot,GPS,Map etc. You can concentrate more on self-defence...................
Next training item for me will be: ANTI BOMBING TACTICS for DUMMIES.

~S~S..x, now you are talking about the realm of TG2. with it one can defend one's self, but barely. it takes a lot of practice, to say the least. with a little work, the panel can be changed to reflect Axis Bombers. I would most likely keep the Bomb View and Auto Pilot and change the Main Panel. so how do you feel about flying a Ju88 or He111?

Bomber's formation, mutual defense, evasive maneuvers, close fighter support, long range action, interception, and attack...
Still plenty to cover ;D
Isn't it wonderful?

~S~ S...o!
I had a briefing with Adolf and Helga and their opinion was that it would be great for Das Vaterland if we could install the stuff in our superior axis bombers and shortening the war as the outcome of it is crystal clear...............
To be frank some more lessons would be nice to have.

PS: Skandbear OK for multiplayer, ports open and Vista-joystick near solution

just for practice, go to 20,000 feet. set auto pilot altitude and heading for a runway, say Ripe 360. you should be able to see it at about 10 miles out. work on alignment by clicking auto pilot heading selector a degree or two at a time. notice that if you click to turn a little right, the aircraft will first turn a few degrees to the left. also notice that the heading selector (red) readout is a degree or two off compared to the green heading indicated above it. it is a quirk of the auto pilot gauge that we have learned to live with.
good news...looking forward to flying with ScandBear. does he have the Lanc? if not, would you please get it to him?
